We recently hosted an open house for many clients, friends and family in the new building we moved into this Fall. Visitors were greeted with hugs, handshakes and our own personal motivational quotes which decorate some of our chalkboard walls. The white words resonate the attitude and effort Carol Levy and her team have put into building up her two businesses, The Freelance Portfolio and Repack Canada. In the boardroom, the lunchroom, and the warehouse, these words inspire everyone from president to managers to warehouse workers that we are here to give our “whatever-it-takes” all and to give it every day.
Exclusive Open House
Jennifer Stephen, our in-house event planner, organized an Open House for November 15th to display this dazzling new space to our customers and suppliers, friends and family. To our delight dozens of people responded by flooding in throughout the afternoon to help us celebrate another new chapter.
Not only did we have a great turn out, but we were honoured with a formal welcome to the community by Vincent Crisanti, the Toronto City Councillor for Etobicoke-North, as he presented us with an official welcome parchment.
Carol established her first company, The Freelance Portfolio, in 1984. Carol applies the same kind of passion for growing a garden as she does towards her professional growth. In 33 years she has transformed her own design work from a screen porch office to a complete team of graphic designers, event planners, and salespeople. Along the way when co-packing of POS displays became a large volume requirement, Carol bought Repack Canada in 2000 when it was just a mere 4,000 sq. foot facility and added an entire co-packing team.
Both companies have been under the same roof for many years now, but 2017 is the year we celebrate such a leap in size. We continue to apply our whatever-it-takes philosophy year after year to grow to where we are today.
Ready and Willing for a Retail Ready Tour?
Follow me, won’t you, as I guide you through some exciting highlights inside 130 Claireville Drive?
Our new iteration is encased inside of a gorgeous, gleaming 55,000 sq. foot facility. Our massive warehouse allows Kate Stephen, our general manager, to section off floorspace for even more simultaneous production than our Norfinch location, with clean rooms and a lab offering exciting new kinds of packaging service options.
At the front of the warehouse we have custom made rolling work tables for hand work, kitting, display assembly and so forth. There is loads of real estate here too (beyond what you see pictured here) for automation to handle the capacity of flow wrapping, shrink-wrapping, bundle wrapping, labelling, ink jetting, box forming and box taping. Multiple rows of bright orange floor to ceiling racking divide the front production area from the rear docking bays which open up into the large pallet staging area. Once co-packing projects are complete, they are neatly re-palletized, wrapped and lined up here, promptly awaiting loading onto trucks.
Now let us make our way back up towards the meeting rooms! We saunter through the lab and into the front office. Both an innovation room and a board room incubate those original ideas and you can witness the fact that we can continue to brainstorm promotions, develop branding, schedule logistics from anywhere in the building — from our own private offices to the lunch table (custom made with re-purposed pallet wood) to the kitchen. And to say the kitchen is the heart of the office would be an understatement as we do tend to rely ever so slightly on the delicious coffee Carol fuels us with.
